Guide Dogs' Gala Day 2008

The third Guide Dogs’ Gala Day is expected to be the charity’s biggest outdoor event of the year. This year the event has a new venue – Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. The date is 26 July and all guide dog owners, staff, volunteers, supporters and friends are welcome.

Attractions on the day include: dog displays by highly trained dogs, including our very own Guide Dogs, falconry; trade stands; food and refreshments; music; Battle of Britain collection fly past and much, much more…

For the first time ever, Gala Day is hosting our Gala Day Fun Run. Choose either a 5k or 10k run, although jogging or walking is perfectly acceptable! Guide Dog owner Dave Heeley, who earlier this year successfully ran seven marathons, in seven days, on seven continents, will be taking part. For more information visit the Gala Day Fun Run pages on the website.

Help us

We are seeking out amazing guide dogs from all over the UK, with the Guide Dog of the Year Awards in only a few weeks time!

Nominations have now closed and we have received many stories of loyalty, intelligence and bravery. Whether the guide dog has given their owner the confidence to go back to work, the freedom to travel far and wide, or averted a potentially risky situation, any of the dogs could be named Guide Dog of the Year 2008.
